“Unread is refreshingly simple and elegant. If you subscribe to RSS feeds and read them on your iPhone, take some time and use Unread for a while — I think you’ll be glad you did.”
— Shawn Blanc

“Unread provides a fantastic mix of elegant typography, intuitive gesture-based, one-handed navigation, iOS 7 features, and modern sharing tools that, in my opinion, make it the best RSS reader for iPhone today.”

SO MUCH TO LOVE ABOUT UNREAD

• BACKGROUND REFRESH • Unread keeps your subscriptions up to date with power-efficient background updating. Articles and images are saved to your device for convenient offline reading.

• SHARING • Use the iOS 8 share extensions to send articles to Instapaper, Pocket, Readability, Pinboard, or your Reading List. Share articles and images via Facebook or Twitter. Send a snippet of highlighted text to Omnifocus or Things for a quick reminder. And so much more.

• QUICK ACCESS • Double tap an article summary to instantly toggle read/unread status. Press and hold to show a menu of options. This is great for quick sharing or for jumping straight to the web to view the original article.

• LINKED-LISTS • If an article is a linked-list article, like those written by John Gruber at Daring Fireball, the article summary shows the domain name of the linked item’s site.

• BIG THUMBNAILS • Turn on the optional inline thumbnails to see big previews of article images while you scroll.

• FOOTNOTE POPOVERS • Articles with properly-formatted footnotes will show convenient popovers when you need to read a footnote.

• 1PASSWORD INTEGRATION • Get your accounts set up quickly.

• ACCESSIBILITY • Unread has 100-percent VoiceOver coverage. Every screen and every feature is available to users with vision impairments. Actions on articles can be quickly triggered using actions option on the accessibility rotor. The Font sizes are adjustable, too, from Tiny to EPIC and many points between.

Pros and cons of Unread: RSS News Reader app for iPhone and iPad

Unread: RSS News Reader app good for

Very clean and functional interface. Feels natural, easy one hand swiping. Great color themes. Best RSS app for a phone. Support for Fever could be better if Hot list visible and mark as read on scroll worked. These subtract one star from an otherwise five stars app.
I used to open unread for more than 10 seconds. It drives me crazy because I enjoy the fine design of this so much. Today I just realized that I enabled thumbnails feature and it is the cause of my performance complaint. Now it opens really fast. I have to correct the 3 star review. This is simply the best RSS reader out there.
Use it everyday. Every update makes it better. Very pleasant to skim.
This is the best RSS app here. Period. Just please change the icon, modernize it.
More than pretty looks, its a pleasure to use. Loving the card style navigation. Get your RSS fix in style!
Used pretty much any RSS readers and its by far the most beautiful and complete experience on iOS.

Some bad moments

Since they purchased this app it became not interesting anymore and expensive!!!
I had received the confirmation that my purchases of Unread will remain valid and recognized. Since today this is no longer true. I surely will not pay again!! Bye, bye Unread!!
The app cost money. Then required paid RSS services. Now theres a slew of IAPs in this new Supertop app. Oh but you get a bunch of ugly themes too. Terribly cobbled together business model. Dont even know who Im giving money too. So done with this one trick pony that seems to be a siphon for your wallet. I hate what the App Store has become.
Unread has been great for the most part, but this app has not been undated for iOS 9 and now suffers from sporadic freezes, crashes, and general sluggish performance. Avoid for now.
As a well known RSS feeder, Unread fails to deliver consistent update to the app. The app crashes at least 3 times a day in iOS 9. The lack of 3D Touch is also worth a mention due to the nature of how popular this app is. Huge disappointment.
After last update this app has become slow and almost unusable.
