Unread: RSS News Reader App Reviews

Best RSS Reader

Its absolutely the best rss reader, the only thing I miss is the Inoreader support.

Laughably Marketed

Dont even bother downloading this, it isnt actually free. It will only let you read 3 articles a day unless you pay more for it so just go download Reeder 3. Apparently nobody makes RSS apps that arent flipboard style for free anymore. If youd told me five years ago that RSS would be pay-to-use I wouldve laughed in your face. Now Im just wholly disappointed and angry.

I’m glad Unread has a bright future.

It just got updated for the iPhone 6 and 6+. It’s now in the arms of the Supertop guys (makers of Castro), so I know it has a bright future. It’s the prettiest RSS user I’ve ever used. Unread is really geared toward READING of articles, rather than using it as “mobile triage.” It’s a very pleasing experience, and it’s better on larger devices (like the iPhone 6 and 6+) than it is on smaller devices. It’s also a better reader if you subscribe to lots of full text RSS feeds. It used to be that Unread was frustrating to use with truncated RSS feeds. But a recent update brought a simple “readability” view and it works GREAT. SUCH A GREAT EXPERIENCE NOW. Huge Kudos to the Supertop team. Update: With the embedded Safari View Controller, it’s even more better(er). Great work!

I really like the app but…

...there is so much I cannot do. I really love this app but I want it to continue to succeed. There ares somethings it doesnt have that keep me from giving up Feedly. Problems in the Unread app: Requires one to check readability view to read many of these articles. Tedious extra steps. Swipe, select, swipe back. Does not let me select a word and get a Dictionary definition. I want a "show all articles" button (like in Feedly) so that I can see all past articles on the blog. Essential for reading great newly discovered blogs. Cannot add feeds in the app. I must go to Feedly or Newsfeed to simply add a new feed.

Best RSS reader, hands down.

Ive tried a bunch of different RSS readers on the iPhone and this is the best yet. The UI is clean and intuitive and it functions really well. Absolutely worth the money.

The Minimalists RSS Reader!

Unread is a beautifully designed RSS Reader that makes catching up on the news a pure delight. The design of the interface capped off with the high-end Whitney Typeface makes the app a true original in the App Store. Interactions within the app are also well thought out and enhance the overall experience. It would be great to see feed management and persistent Readability mode (on a per-feed basis) added to make Unread a one-stop shop for RSS. As it stands, Unread is an essential app for improving the consumption of your favorite news sources. Heres hoping the developer will keep Unread going strong and that users will support it with their purchase.

Works quite well with fever

Ive been using this for a few weeks now with my self-hosted Fever app. Beats the other app I used to use hands down. My only complaint is the available fonts, even in paid mode. Everything is too thin because the author is determined to make his app look like Apple instead of being readable.

Great

It syncs with feedly. I really like the gestures and the interface. I set it so it marks articles as read if I scroll past it. Really like this app. Makes me wanna read articles and I can go through them fast. I paid for the in-app upgrade cause I really like this app and now I dont have a limit.

Beautiful app with two key features missing

Beautiful app -best of the RSS applications, in my opinion- and very intuitive controls. Second to none in terms of usability, themes, readability. I love Reeder, but Unread tops it in looks and controls. Theres only a couple things missing: 1- subscribe/unsubscribe feeds; 2- 3D Touch. I would also LOVE to see an Unread Mac App!
